IP-Projects - Frankfurt Datacenter locations

Currently, IP-Projects GmbH & Co. KG operates server facilities at two locations in Frankfurt am Main. These locations differ mainly in certification and data center service. The location FRA1 - NTT - was opened on 01.07.2020. Here, special attention was paid to maintenance tolerance.

The data center location in Frankfurt is characterized above all by the very good Internet connection and the central location in Germany. In addition, this is favored by the banks located in Frankfurt am Main, as they are dependent on a fast Internet connection at home and abroad. When selecting the data center provider in Frankfurt itself, we paid particular attention to a balanced price/performance ratio in order to be able to guarantee our customers the best possible quality for the services we offer.

Data Center Certifications

Data Center Certifications

Each of our data center locations in Frankfurt has numerous certifications. Certifications are particularly important because they allow you to ensure certain requirements are met. In the past, companies that operated server facilities sent specially created question catalogs to the data center service providers. These questionnaires then included all the requirements for building security, availability/redundancy and much more.

Data center certifications were introduced to decimate the effort of creating a question catalog and still map all requirements. Therefore, if a data center is certified according to a certain standard, it can be assumed that certain requirements are met. These certifications are also reviewed at regular intervals and renewed accordingly.

Energy efficiency of data centers

Energy efficiency of data centers

It is foreseeable that energy costs will continue to rise in the coming years - we have therefore deliberately chosen data centers in Frankfurt that rely on sophisticated climate and power technologies in order to keep the operating costs of the server systems as low as possible and thus future-oriented. The data centers have a PUE (ratio between server performance and total performance) of 1.1 - 1.6 and are thus among the leading data centers in Frankfurt am Main. The industry average is currently a PUE of 1.8.

The PUE includes, for example, the power loss of UPS systems, the effort required to air-condition the server systems, and other factors such as office electricity or energy consumption for lighting the data center area.

Extensive hardware inventory

Extensive hardware inventory

Since server systems are ultimately a matter of technology, there can always be a defect that requires the replacement of hardware. To ensure that even a major defect does not lead to prolonged disruption of our servers, we maintain a comprehensive spare parts warehouse at each of our data center locations. This includes mainboards, hard disks and SSDs as well as CPUs, RAID controllers and network cards. We make sure that, as far as possible, matching spare parts of the same or higher generation are available in the warehouse for each rental server, so that our customers do not have to wait days for replacements from the manufacturer.

The replacement of defective hardware is carried out by our technicians on site. If you require an SLA for the replacement of defective components, please contact our customer support.

Premium network connection - own ASN - AS48314

Premium network connection - own ASN - AS48314

In Frankfurt, there are a large number of carriers (Internet service providers with their own network infrastructure) available. Many providers deliberately choose very cheap carriers in order to be able to offer the lowest possible price for data traffic.

We opt for quality over quantity here and therefore only use providers with a very good Internet connection to the customer. We therefore actively analyze the path that the data packets take to the customer and check the extent to which optimization is possible, for example by direct peering to the DSL provider. To this end, we have been operating our own cross-site ASN since July 1, 2020. Our focus is on optimizing the latency from the server to the customer. Therefore, the location Frankfurt am Main is particularly important for us, as most carriers are represented here and we can thus continuously expand our network with additional carriers. We always try to achieve a balanced price / performance ratio.
